BOBBY GURNEY MURAL PROJECT

The Bobby Gurney Mural Project was to commemorate a local Silksworth and Sunderland AFC footballing legend. Bobby is Sunderland’s all-time leading goal scorer and up until June 2000, hadn’t been officially commemorated by the football club. We took it upon ourselves to source a local artist who could turn an almost 100 year old picture into something special for the folk of Silksworth and the City of Sunderland to be proud of. The mural adorns the gable end of The Fleece pub in Silksworth.
